Mr.Salman Riyas

Assistant Professor

Salman Riyas has been working as an Assistant Professor since October 2021 in the Dept. of English, Al Azhar College of Arts and Science. He bagged a First Class M.A in English and Comparative Literature from the Central University of Kerala. His qualifications also include GATE in Humanities and Social Sciences (All India Rank 39), and UGC JRF and NET in English. He has been actively presenting research papers in International/National conferences organized by various colleges/universities across South India. He has also attended a number of workshops on Research in the Humanities, Critical Theory, and Cultural Studies. His MA dissertation titled as “Virginity Myths as Patriarchal Sexual Apparatuses: A Symptomatic Reading of Priya Thuvassery’s Documentary Essay My Sacred Glass Bowl” was shortlisted for the final round of a National Level MA Dissertation Competition organized by SB College in the year 2020. During his undergraduate years at SB College, he twice received the proficiency award for academic excellence in the years 2017 and 2018. He was also awarded Fr. Martin Vazhachira Memorial Endowment for being the best outgoing undergraduate student of the Dept. of English, SB College for the year 2017-18.
