LUMINARIA 2K26
The inaugural function of LUMINARIA was conducted on 19 January 2026 at 10:30 AM with active participation from faculty members and students. The programme marked the formal commencement of the event and reflected the academic and cultural spirit of the institution.
The programme began with a Prayer Song, invoking blessings for the success of the event. This was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Ms. Sreedevi A N, Head of the Department of Hindi, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, and students, and highlighted the relevance and objectives of LUMINARIA.
The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Ferosh M. Basheer, Principal, who emphasized the importance of holistic education and encouraged students to actively participate in academic, cultural, and co-curricular activities for their overall development.
The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Somasekharan B. Pillai, Academic Dean, Al Azhar Group of Institutions and Former Principal of Al-Azhar Arts College. In his insightful address, he motivated students to recognize the importance of language in one’s life, stating that language is not merely a medium of communication but a powerful tool that shapes thought, culture, and identity. He encouraged students to develop strong language skills, highlighting how linguistic proficiency plays a crucial role in academic success, professional growth, and personal expression. His words inspired students to value language learning as an essential part of their educational journey.
A traditional cultural performance, Nadan Pattu, was presented by Gopika Radhakrishnan and team, which added a vibrant and artistic dimension to the programme and was appreciated by the audience.
This was followed by a Felicitation Address by Mr. Arun Gopal, Academic Dean, who congratulated the organizing committee and acknowledged the efforts taken to make the programme meaningful and engaging.
The programme also featured a Recitation by Arya P. Sunil, which captivated the audience with its clarity and expression. Further Felicitation Addresses were delivered by Dr. Thomas Francis, Vice Principal, and Mr. Shammas Basheer, Vice Principal and IQAC Coordinator, who encouraged students to make effective use of academic forums such as LUMINARIA for intellectual and personal growth.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Ahammed Mujthaba, Head of the Department of Arabic, who expressed sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty members, organizers, participants, and students for their support and cooperation.
The inaugural function of LUMINARIA was conducted successfully and set a positive and inspiring tone for the events that followed.
