

The Department of Social Work, Al-Azhar College of Arts and Science, organized a series of programmes to commemorate World Day of Social Justice 2025 under the theme “SAMATHWA 2025”. The programme focused on promoting equality, inclusion, human rights, and social justice among students and the wider community.
The activities were organized with the broader message of “Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps for Social Justice.” The programmes provided students with opportunities to enhance their awareness of social justice issues and actively participate in discussions and activities related to equality and human rights.
An awareness programme on Child Rights and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act was organized on 20 February 2025. The session aimed to familiarize students with the rights of children and the legal mechanisms available for their protection and welfare.
The programme was addressed by Adv. Anil J, Member, Child Welfare Committee. The session provided students with valuable information regarding child rights, child protection, and the role of relevant institutions in safeguarding children.
A Write-up Competition and Debate were conducted on 21 February 2025 as part of the World Day of Social Justice observance. The activities encouraged students to critically engage with issues related to equality, justice, inclusion and social change.
The programme carried the message “Participate and Win,” encouraging active student involvement. The activities provided students with an opportunity to develop their communication, writing, critical thinking and debating skills while reflecting on contemporary social justice concerns.
The central theme of SAMATHWA 2025 was:
“Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps for Social Justice”
The programme emphasized that social justice can be achieved through equality of opportunity, respect for human dignity, protection of rights, and meaningful inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable sections of society.The activities also conveyed the message:
“Justice for all, Equality forever.”
