Kerala Institutional Ranking Framework (KIRF)
The Kerala Institutional Ranking Framework (KIRF) is an initiative launched by the Government of Kerala to evaluate and rank higher education institutions across the state. The framework aims to promote excellence, transparency, and continuous improvement in the higher education sector by assessing institutions on multiple academic and institutional performance indicators.
KIRF provides a systematic and transparent evaluation process that helps institutions identify their strengths while also recognizing areas that require improvement. Through this initiative, the state seeks to enhance the overall quality of higher education and encourage institutions to adopt best practices in teaching, research, and student development.
The ranking framework evaluates institutions based on the following key parameters:
- Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR) – Measures the quality of teaching, faculty strength, learning environment, and academic resources available to students.
- Research and Professional Practices (RP) – Assesses research output, publications, projects, patents, and professional contributions.
- Graduation Outcomes (GO) – Evaluates student success indicators such as graduation rates, higher studies, and employability.
- Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) – Examines the institution’s commitment to diversity, social responsibility, and inclusive education.
- Scientific and Secular Outlook (SSO) – Measures the promotion of scientific thinking, ethical values, and a secular academic environment.
KIRF Ranking – 2025
Al-Azhar College of Arts & Science, Thodupuzha has been recognized in the KIRF 2025 rankings, conducted by the Kerala State Higher Education Council under the Department of Higher Education, Government of Kerala.
The institution has been placed in the Rank Band 101–150 in the College Category. This achievement highlights the college’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards, fostering research culture, and providing a supportive learning environment for students.
